The Dodowa Health Research Centre (DHRC) has been very vital and its continuous existence has been very relevant in terms of its research activities, to Ghana as a country, and the international community as a whole.
In line with the 5 year program of work of the Ghana Health service and in line with the strategic Objectives of the Health service, the objectives of the centre are:
To take part in identifying and carrying out priority research to help address policy planning and implementation needs of the GHS.
To build multi disciplinary capacity within the research centre to provide technical support and conduct Implementation Research
To build capacity in finding effective solutions and implementation alternatives to identified need and problems.
To disseminate results of research findings to key people, policy makers and anyone responsible for health care in a meaningful way.
To generate data that will assist in the monitoring of progress towards achieving the MDG’s.
Our priorities for this period are to
Build on the platform we have developed for the effectiveness and safety studies
Publish as much data as possible
Write new proposals in relevant areas
Continue to build individual and institutional capacity
Begin work on Monitoring and Evaluating the impact of the ILO Global Social Trust conditional cash transfer pilot in Dangme West
Use of RDT at the community level (Chemical Shops)
Initiate the creation of a platform for Phase 4 Effectiveness and Safety Studies
Take a closer look at the data we have collected over the years through the Demographic and Health Surveillance System focusing on cause of death and trends for planning towards meeting Millenium Development Goals.
